The remedial care allowance is deducted from the Share of Cost when a client is in an alternate living situation. This allowance is determined by subtracting the MNIL from the Standard of Need for the alternate living situation. In order for this allowance to budget correctly, the Living Arrangement must be correct. When the budget processes and shows a Share of Cost amount, double click on the Additional Excess Income line in the Budget Summary. This will display the Remedial Care allowance as well as any Medicare premium expense. The amount from the Additional Excess Income line interfaces to C1 and shows on the Share of Cost Form.
Example:
Client's Share of Cost shows as $1300.00. The Additional Excess Income shows as $180.50 after allowing $639 for remedial care The SON for Assisted Living, minus the MNIL for 1 of $392.00) and $88.50 for Medicare premium. The client will receive a Share of Cost form for $180.50 and will be required to meet this expense on medical bills in addition to paying the room and board expense to the Assisted Living facility.
To View the remedial care allowance in the budget, click on the Additional Share of Cost line on the budget. You will go to the Additional Excess Income Summary Window and can then view the remedial care allowance.
