Add a Retro MED Case

Key Points:

Steps:

  1. Select the earliest benefit month for which the retro MED period should start
  2. Go to Case Actions and select the Add button
  3. Select Retro MED for the Program Case
  4. Select all persons to be included as Participants in the Retro MED case
  5. Enter the date of request from the Medicaid application
  6. Enter the last day of the retro MED eligibility period
  7. Process Configuration and Budgeting for all Retro MED months

Example:

Application was requested February 5 and a medical need was identified in November. Select the benefit month of November, then go to Case Actions and select the Add push button. Select Retro MED for the program case. Select all clients to be included as Participants. The application request date would be entered as February 5 and the Retro MED end date would be January 31. A separate MEDICAID case will be established for the retro eligibility period of November 1 through January 31 and will close February 1. Regular Medicaid eligibility can be established for the prospective period starting February 1 and would be in a separate MEDICAID case.
