Create Narrative

  1. On any Detail Window where the Narrative icon displays and is enabled, select the Narrative icon.
  2. The Search Narrative Window displays

Note: If accessing the Narrative icon from the Detail Master Case window, a program case must be highlight first to enable the icon.

  3. Highlight the program cases to which the narrative will be tied. If you want to tie the narrative to all program cases, you can select the 'Select All' radio button to highlight all program cases.
  4. Select the New push button.
  5. The Detail Case Narrative Window displays in Add Mode ready for the user to create a new narrative.
  6. Type in the Short Description which will appear on the Case Narrative List window. Type the text in the Narrative Detail box. Then select the Subject by using the drop down list.

Note: Text may be entered in both upper and lower case characters. N-FOCUS Narrative is equipped with Word Wrap. This means there is no need to select the Return key to move the cursor to the next line upon reaching the end of a line of text. Selecting the Return key causes an empty line to display within the text when printed.

  7. Select the Save icon.
  8. The update is saved. Log on ID populates the Created By field and corresponds to the person currently logged onto the system.

Note: Should you attempt to exit the Window without saving, you receive the message “Changes have been made, do you want to Save?”. Yes, No, Cancel, and Help push buttons are displayed. Selecting Yes saves the data. Should you attempt to save an empty text field, a message displays “Narrative must be provided before saving”.

Spell Check

On the Detail Narrative window select either the Spell Check button or select Spell Check from the Actions drop down menu. If a word that you use frequently comes up in Spell Check and you want to continue using your spelling for this word, select "Add" to add this word to your dictionary. This word will then no longer continue to appear in the spell check. The spell check will not work if the narrative is typed using all UPPERCASE letters.
