Cut and Paste Narrative

  1. On the Detail Case Narrative Window, click in the Narrative Text field
  2. Right click with the mouse to bring up a list and select "Select All" to highlight the entire text field OR drag across the text to highlight the portion that you want to cut
  3. After the text is highlighted, right click again with the mouse and select "Cut"
  4. The text is stored on a Clipboard and is ready to paste by going to the area where you want to paste it, right clicking and select "Paste"

  5. On the Detail Case Narrative Window, within the Narrative Text field, place the cursor at the beginning of the text you wish to cut.
  6. Press and hold the left button of your mouse as you drag the cursor across the text you wish to cut.
  7. Release the left button of your mouse.
  8. The selected text is highlighted.
  9. Simultaneously select the Shift and Delete keys.
  10. The selected text disappears and the cursor remains at the position within any remaining text where the cut text was removed. The text is temporarily stored on an area of your computer called the Clipboard. It remains there either until it is replaced with other Copied or Cut text or you end your N-FOCUS session.

    Note:  If copying from an instance of Narrative which was created prior to the current date, although the text disappears, the function does not change the narrative and the narrative cannot be saved. Narratives can only be updated on the day they are created.

  11. Within the text field of this, any other instance of narrative or any Word document, place the cursor where you desire the cut text to be placed and click the left button of your mouse.
  12. The cursor displays at the position it was in when clicked.
  13. Simultaneously select the Shift and Insert keys.
  14. The text stored on the Clipboard displays to the left of the cursor.

    Note:  The Clipboard does not purge the text. You can Paste its contents repeatedly.

  15. Select the Save icon.
