When N-FOCUS requires the entry of a Social Security number for a person, and the person does not have a Social Security number, an interim number is used. Interim Numbers are random numbers, used in place of Social Security numbers.
Examples of individuals who would not have an SSN include an ineligible immigrant applying for their child(ren), or a refugee who has not received their SSN yet. When the individual receives their SSN, be sure to update their Person Detail information with the Social Security number.
Call Central Office at 402-471-9604 obtain an interim number, if your office does not have a block of numbers to use.
Note: If the person who is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program head of household has an interim number, and loses their EBT card, the interim number is used to get a replacement card or a new PIN. Advise the client what the interim number is so the client is able to get a PIN or a replacement card.
