SNAP Certification Periods

Key Points:

Example:

Today’s date is 10-18-04. The original certification period is for 08-01-04 thru 10-31-04 but a recertification was completed the previous week and the new dates of 11-01-04 thru 01-31-05 were set. Both certifications will display until 11-01-04 when only the 11-01-04 thru 01-31-05 will display.

Note: When shortening a SNAP certification period, a manual Notice of Expiration of Certification must be sent if the certification period is shortened to the end of the month following the current month when the date completed is after the 22nd of the current month.

Note: When a SNAP budget has been denied two months in a row (application month and the month following) for being over income or resources and then later reprocessed for the application month which is subsequently approved. User is now able to enter the correct certification period unless there was an active SNAP within the two calendar months prior. Do not run the come up month if it is the end of the certification period. In these situations, the recertification application can only be tied in the Mainframe in the SNAP Detail Program case. In cases where there is an active SNAP case within two calendar months prior to the current month the user will be required to do a one month certification for the app month and a five month cert for the following months to equal six months.
