Understand BDE Interfaces

The BDE interface displays general information about the person receiving Social Security and/or Medicare Benefits.

The interface will display the customers social security number, name as it appears for SSA benefits, birth date, and gender.  The most recent 12 months of interfaces displays.  All interfaces over one year old are archived and can be retrieved by making a request to Production Support.

  1. To view a particular interface select the line to view.
  2. The BDE Benefit detail for the line selected will display.

BDE Benefit Detail Tab

Information displayed includes claim number, date received, payment status, Bendex Match status, current entitlement date, initial entitlement date, disability date, effective date of payment, check amount, entitlement amount and gross amount, overpayment monthly amount (this would be an SSA overpayment), SSI overpayment amount withheld, and retro payment amount.

BDE Demographics Tab

Information displayed includes social security number, name, birthdate, and gender of the person receiving benefits.  Also displayed is the birth date, date of death, date of birth proof and date of death proof , along with the payee's name and address.  Citizenship start date and the county of citizenship will also display and whether US Citizenship has been proved to SSA.

BDE Medicare Part A Tab

Once again, the demographics of the person receiving benefits will display.  The Medicare claim number, Medicare Part A start date and premium amount (if any) will display.

BDE Medicare Part B Tab

Person demographics are displayed.  Displayed information includes the begin date of continuous coverage for Part B, enrollment period, premium amount and premium payer.

Note: The Railroad Retirement Claim numbers displayed on the Bendex (BDE) and Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) interfaces are not true claim numbers.  The BDE and CMS interfaces convert the claim number for their files and don’t use the same conversion method.  The true claim number must be entered on N-FOCUS as it passes to the MMIS (c1) system and is used for claims.
