An Interface is an electronic exchange of information with another computer system. Information is sent to and from the N-FOCUS system. The Interfaces available on the main menu from systems that belong to outside agencies such as Nebraska Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Health Care Financing Administration.
In order to receive interface information about an individual, the individual must be in pending or active status in a program case in N-FOCUS.
The following Interfaces are available:

BDE (Bendex): The Beneficiary Data Exchange Interface gives you information received from the Social Security Administration about a person's Social Security (RSDI) and Medicare benefits. |

CMS:The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Interface provides information about eligibility information for Medicare Parts A and/or Part B benefits and Buy-in information, and Part D enrollment and plan information. |

CSE: The Child Support Enforcement Interface (iCHARTS) provides information about child support payments paid or received. |
|
DMV: The Department of Motor Vehicles Interface provides drivers license or vehicle license information for an individual. Only persons with the security to view the information are able to access this information. |

IRS: The Internal Revenue Services Interface provides information about the income reported to the IRS by financial institutions and other organizations from which the income was derived for the selected person. Only those persons assigned to the case can view the information and it is never to be copied or printed. |

IUC: The Integrated Unemployment Compensation Interface provides information from the Department of Labor (unemployment Division ) about a customer's unemployment benefits. |

Buy-In: The Medicare Buy-In Interface provides information about an individual's Medicare Buy-In status. This information is accessed from the Person Detail Window. |

NHM: The New Hire Match Interface is information received from CHARTS (Child Support Enforcement) about newly hired individuals in Nebraska. This information can be used as a lead to obtain verification of employment. |

SDX: State Data Exchange provides information received by the Social Security Administration about an individual's Supplemental Security Income (SSI). |
|
SEW: The State Employer Wage File provides information that was reported to the State Department of Labor about an individual's earned income. |

SSA: The Social Security Administration Interface provides information via the Federal Data Services HUB. This information includes verification of citizenship, incarceration, indication of death and disability and the most recent four months of Social Security Benefits. NOTE: This icon is only enabled when the Case Person is pending or active in a MLTC case. |

SSA: The information provided is reported by SSA through SVES. Currently this interface only displays incarceration information. This icon is not used to verify citizenship. NOTE: This icon is only enabled when the Case Person is pending or active in an EA case. |

TAX: The TAX Interface includes tax household information from the IRS via the Federal Data Services HUB for the purpose of determining eligibility for persons in a MLTC case. |

VLP: The Verify Lawful Presence Interface is used to display the lawful presence of information received through the Federal Data Services HUB and the Department of Homeland Security SAVE Program. NOTE: This icon is only enabled when the Case Person is pending or active in a MLTC case. |

VS: The Vital Statistics Interface is used to request and display records of births, deaths, marriages, and divorce. |
|
40Q: The Social Security Administration provides information to determine 40 Quarters of Employment for SNAP eligibility for Aliens. |

MMIS: N-FOCUS sends an interface to the Medicaid Management Information System to indicate the begin and end dates of an individuals medicaid eligibility.

SVES SSN Request: This button is used to generate a request through the State Verification Exchange System (SVES) to the Social Security Administration for verification of the SSN, Supplemental Security Income, Social Security, and/or Medicare eligibility. |

SVES Prisoner Info Request: This button is used to request SVES/SSA incarceration information. It can take up to 48 hours to receive a response to your request. Information returned will be displayed in the yellow SSA icon. NOTE: This may only be requested for persons Pending or Active in a SNAP Program Case. |

40Q Request: This button is used to generate a request for information regarding the countable qualified work quarters for a non-citizen qualifying for the Food Stamp Program through 40 quarters. This request is made through SVES to the Social Security Administration. |

SVES Claim Request: This button is used to generate a request through the State Verification Exchange System (SVES) to the Social Security Administration for verification of the Social Security, and/or Medicare eligibility. Railroad Part A and B is not a part of this request. NOTE: This button enables only after you enter the Social Security Claim number and tab off the field. |

ACA SSA/Incarceration Request: This button is used to manually request verification of SSA benefits, SSN, Disability, Death, US Citizenship or Incarceration from SSA through the Federal Data Services HUB. After selecting this button, the SSA Benefit Month Requested window will display. Select the month and year for the request. Incarceration information will be received for persons aged 16 or older. It can take up to 48 hours to receive a response to your request. Information returned will be displayed in the blue SSA icon. NOTE: This button is used only for MLTC cases. |
Information received by an Interface will actually build data in the appropriate N-FOCUS Task. It will also create/update the appropriate verification for the data.
Whenever an Interface creates data, the system will place the applicable task on the Expert System "To Do List" and will send an Alert to the worker.
When you receive an Alert regarding one of the Interfaces, it is important to check the "To Do List" to identify the tasks that have been put on the list. If you need more information than is available in the module, you would go to the applicable Interface Inquiry window.
SDX Interface will create data in Medical Impairment, and Income (for SSI, SSI Federal Benefit Income, SDX Deemed Income and SDX Earned Income). Additionally the interface will create data in the Interface Inquiry windows.
BDE Interface will create data in Medical Impairment, Medicare, Income (SSA), and Expense (Medicare premium) tasks. It will also create data in the Interface Inquiry window.
IUC Interface will create data in Unearned Income and the Interface Inquiry windows.
IRS, SEW, and Buy-In Interfaces will create data in the Interface Inquiry windows, and will send Alerts.
CHARTS Interface runs a nightly file with N-FOCUS and matches on the full SSN and Date of Birth for a person who receives Child Support or Spousal Support income.
