The System sets the Withholding FICA indicator when the Provider Detail portion of the Service Approval is completed.
When the Provider Detail is created using a Service Type that is subject to FICA withholding a pop-up window opens asking:
Is the provider either affiliated with an Agency or self-employed? (A person who files his/her FICA taxes is considered self-employed.) If the provider meets either of these criteria answer Yes.
If you determine that the “Withhold FICA” Indicator was set incorrectly, for example, the “Withhold FICA” Indicator on the Detail Provider window is not checked for an In-home Service provider rightfully anticipating DHHS to withhold FICA from his/her payment and to match the amount, the correction must be made by Client Payments and Claims Processing.
