Example 1

A new ADC/MED application is received on June 20th. The applicant’s only child is an unborn; the pregnancy verification from the client’s physician indicates that the EDC for the unborn is September 16th. Assuming that all eligibility requirements are met, the applicant is eligible for an ADC grant effective June 1st, the first day of the month of application as well as the first day of the final trimester.

Note: If the unborn’s due date was not until October, there is no ADC grant eligibility until July, but the worker must determine Medicaid eligibility for June.

If the baby arrives late (is born in October), there is no underpayment; if the baby arrives early (is born in August), there is no overpayment.

Note: If the physician does not indicate a due date for the baby on the pregnancy verification, the worker shall contact the physician.
