Supportive Services During a Sanction

A client who is sanctioned must serve the minimum penalty but at anytime s/he may choose to begin participating. If the person chooses to begin participation, all appropriate services may be provided.

If the individual successfully participates in the activity to which s/he previously agreed in the Self-Sufficiency Contract or in another activity agreed upon in the contract for a period of at least one calendar week and continues to do so satisfactorily, the sanction ceases as of the day s/he agrees to participate but not before the minimum penalty period for that sanction has been exhausted. If the individual does not complete the week of activity, his/her request is no longer valid. Once a sanction is imposed, ADC cash assistance and medical for the adult cannot be reinstated unless the client becomes eligible for an exemption or exhausts the minimum penalty period prescribed for that sequence of sanction and fulfills the participation requirement.

If the client chooses to participate, the EF program case should be active and an EF Case Plan developed with appropriate Goals, Tasks, Components, Planned Monthly Hours, etc., and the Participation Rate should be updated each month. If the client fails to cooperate, the EF program case should be closed as well as all Tasks and Goals in the EF Case Plan.
