Situation F

The client was receiving a state supplement payment of $58.50. Effective March 1, s/he began receiving a small VA pension of $100. The SSI benefits were reduced accordingly. The client called the worker March 2, but the worker did not adjust the budget until May 1. Effective May 1, the client's state check was reduced to $38.50.

  1. How much of an error in Medicaid benefits occurred? None. Even though the budget should have been adjusted for April, the client remained grant eligible. The client was eligible for Medicaid benefits even with the additional income from VA. Consequently, recoupment of Medicaid benefits does not apply in this situation. The worker may want to consider recoupment of the state supplemental overpayment according to 469 NAC 3-007.03B.
