The client must participate in agency and/or vendor-provided assessment(s) designed to provide a framework for self-sufficiency planning. The purpose of assessment is to gather and organize information about the client's skills, aptitudes, strengths, interests and family circumstances. Assessment must be conducted when a participant’s circumstances change, when s/he is not able to continue forward movement in his/her Self-Sufficiency Contract activities, or at any time the case manager and/or the participant determines it is necessary.
The initial informal assessments that occur whenever the case manager and client are engaged in orientation, eligibility discussions, etc., help the case manager evaluate the need for any further assessments and which methods of assessments to utilize. Methods used in conducting an assets assessment may include but are not limited to structured interviews, interest inventories, career exploration instruments, aptitude tests, and basic skills tests.
For the EF Assessment Guide, see Form WP-10 (PAF 15-4).
