2-020.08 Supportive Services

A participant must be provided with allowable and appropriate supportive services to the extent determined necessary by the case manager to enable the individual to participate in any Employment First component as agreed upon in the Self-Sufficiency Contract if no other source is available at no cost to the participant or to the agency.  The case manager must prior approve the use of these funds.

Participants who qualify for an exemption are eligible for supportive services if they are required to cooperate in obtaining treatment, counseling, rehabilitative or vocational services identified in a service plan.  For information on the service plan, see 468 NAC 2-020.02D.

Applicants for ADC cash assistance are eligible for supportive services only if they are participating in Employment First orientation, assessment, self-sufficiency planning, Self-Sufficiency Contract development, community service,  job search, or employment.

For guidelines on supportive services, see 468-000-309.

All other methods of providing supportive services should be explored and utilized before program dollars are expended.  Some examples of funding resources are student financial aid programs and other agencies or organizations such as Workforce Development and Vocational Rehabilitation.  When a participant is accepted into another program such as Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Vocational Rehabilitation, Displaced Homemakers, etc., the supportive services may be provided by both programs through a shared arrangement or by EF if not provided by the other program.
