4-001.01B2a(1) Emergency Medical Condition

An emergency medical condition is defined as a medical condition (including emergency labor and delivery) manifesting itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) where the absence of immediate medical attention could reasonably be expected to result in -

  1. Serious jeopardy to the patient's health;
  2. Serious impairment to bodily functions; or
  3. Serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part.

The State Review Team (SRT) makes the determination that the client has an emergency medical condition.
