7-008.02A Outside Opinion

The APS worker may obtain a physician’s or other mental health professional’s opinion to assist in determining if the vulnerable adult is in need of a substitute decision-maker.  The APS worker must use the Department’s checklist for competency determination form (see Appendix) or obtain a statement from the physician or mental health professional when necessary.
