4-004.02A1b Household Does Respond

If the household does respond with sufficient information, the worker must act on the new circumstances.

1. When the information provided will result in an increase in benefits, the change is made for the following month.

2. When the information provided will result in a decrease in benefits, the change is made for the following month if timely notice can be provided.

3. When the information provided will result in a decrease in benefit and time does not allow for a timely notice, the change is made for the month following the expiration of the timely notice.

Documentation of Reported Changes:
1. Document the date the change was reported, who reported it, and how the information was provided (by phone, fax, in person, etc.) and the details of the change reported, i.e., new job, move, addition of household member.
2. Document the action and the date of the action taken by the worker as a result of the reported change.
3. Documentation includes written notices to the household including requests for further verification, eligibility and benefit level.
4. Documentation can be in the form of narrative, income computation forms, date-stamping of verifications received, phone log records included in the case record and other information or materials that provide the basis that supports the process or reason the worker took a specific action.
