Medicare Overview

Medicare is an optional task. It is used to document Medicare involvement for any case person(s). Documentation will include a person’s eligibility for Medicare Part(s) A and/or B, the respective date(s) of entitlement, and the Medicare Claim Number.

Generally the Medicare information is created from the BDE or SDX interface, however, the user is allowed to create Medicare information. Information created by the interface can be edited or deleted by another interface or by the user. Interface information will overlay user entered information if the claim number is an exact match.

The information documented in this task is used to update MMIS, Managed Care, etc.

Medicare is entirely an optional task for completion.

A person can have both types (Parts A and B) of Medicare but not two instances of the same type for the same period.

Medicare information can be future dated both by the interface and by the user.
