WINDOW OVERVIEW:

The Benefit Summary for MEDICAID cases is used to view the details of a selected Medical Assistance budget.

FIELD DESCRIPTIONS:

Begin Date: The budget month is displayed in the title bar of the window.

Program Case Group Box:

This box displays the first and last name of the Program Case Name person, the type of program case, the category of MED eligibility, and the type of budget (regular or recalculated).

Budget Details Display Box:

Left Side:

Resource Total: This field displays the total amount of resources calculated for the program case.

Resource Limit: This field displays the resource limit established for the program case.

Unearned Income: This field displays the amount of unearned income calculated for the program case.

Unearned Income Disregard: This field displays the amount of income that can be disregarded according to program rules.

Net Unearned Income: This field displays the countable unearned income after calculating all unearned income sources and disregards

Earned Income: This field displays the gross amount of earned income calculated for the program case.

Earned Income Disregard: This field displays the amount of earned income disregards allowed for the program case.

Child Care Disregard: This field displays the amount of deduction allowed for child care.

Net Earned Income: This field displays the earned income after allowing deductions.

Resource Test: This field displays the Pass, Fail, or Exempt eligibility status of the available resources based on program standards.

Income Test: This field displays the Pass, Fail, or Exempt eligibility status of the available income based on program standards.

Right Side:

Unit Size: This field displays the number of persons considered in the program case budgeting. (A double click on this field opens a helpful non-financial summary.)

Total Net Countable Inc: This field displays the total income after considering all deductions.

Medical Disregards: This field displays the amount of deduction allowed for medical expenses.

Total Adjusted Income: This field displays the amount of income after disregard of the medical expenses.

Medical Income Level: This field displays the maximum income level based on type of medical eligibility and unit size.

Share of Cost: This field displays the total share of cost.

Adjusted Share of Cost: This field displays the share of cost after allowing for Medicare premium expenses, remedial care expenses, and other expenses allowed toward share of cost.

Additional Excess Income: This field displays the amount in excess of the Medicaid per diem expense for Nursing Home and Assisted Living cases.

Private Pay Days: This field displays the number of private pay days in the selected benefit month for excess per diem cases when the private nursing home per diem expense has been entered.

Creation Date: This field displays the date the budget was authorized.

A note displays below the creation date when children have been selected as continuously eligible for MEDICAID.

Note: The specifics of many of the line items can be viewed by double clicking on the line. (designated on these pages in navy blue type). Budgets authorized before 07-06-2004 may be displayed in a different format and not all of the fields listed here in navy blue type will open.
