Person Search - Overview

The Person Search function is used to search the N-FOCUS system to see if a person is already known to the system.

Note: A person should only be entered in the system once so this search should be done before adding a new case to the system or adding a new person to an existing case.

The search can be initiated using the person’s Social Security Number, the last four digits of the SSN, demographic information (name, birth date, sex), Person Number (if already known to the system), or CFS Docket and Page number.

Note: If the Master Case or any person who is IN the Household within the Master Case needs to be protected because of Domestic Violence, the information will be marked as RESTRICTED. This designation will display on the Detail Master Case window, and the Person Detail window. During the Search process, for each person within a Restricted Master Case, the restriction will also display on the Search by Address, Search by Phone and Search by Account windows. Search information will not display for Restricted Persons or Master Cases.

The Docket and Page number can be used to search for Children and Family Service cases. It will not search for Child Support court cases. The Docket and Page number need to be entered exactly the same way that they are documented in the Legal Action in order to find a match.

If a person is known to the system do not add them a second time. Use the "Select Existing N-Focus  Person" option on the Person Clearance List window to add the person to the Master Case.

If a person is not known to the system the "Person not found" message will displa and they can then be added as a new case or person.
